Approaching the Horizon

October 19-21, 2021

As Missouri celebrates its 200th anniversary, it allows us all to reflect on our state’s history, but it also encourages us to look to the future. Please join us for this conversation.

The conference will be held virtually and registration is open.

The keynote address will be "Our Future is Inclusive: Museums, Archives, and Disabled Persons," by Beth Ziebarth, Director of Access Smithsonian

There will be a special virtual tour of the "St. Louis Sound" exhibit at the Missouri History Museum.

A workshop, Museum Environment 101, will be provided by staff from the Midwest Art Conservation Center and sponsored by the Missouri Historical Society. (This workshop has a limit of 40 participants. Upon registering for the conference, you will receive information on registering separately for the workshop.)

Sessions include:

"The Kansas City Museum: The Seamless Adaption of a Historic Structure into a Contemporary Museum"

"Reimagining President Truman through a Museum Transformation"

"New Perspectives: An Experimental Internship Program to Promote Diversity in the Museum Field"

"At Least No One Cited Pinterest as a Source This Year: Central Mssouri Region Ntional History Day"
